Magical winter wedding at Caswell House

It was a real honour when Amy asked me to create her wedding florals and styling as she's the social media manager for a leading bridal designer so knows her way around weddings! Amy and Mike choose Caswell House in The Cotswolds for their December wedding as the couple love Christmas and all things cosy. We went for it with an elegant real Christmas tree as the ceremony backdrop, blousy meadows of white roses, window sills filled with White Company winter candles and loads of bud vases of white flowers.

Amy looked incredible in her bespoke bridal dress and veil and her bride tribe wore cute fur capes to keep them warm. This is the winter wedding of our dreams.

Love Notes

"Dear lovely Fi, I don't think I'll ever be able to find the words to express how grateful we are for all your help in making our wedding so special. Your pure determination to find the prefect styling pieces and flowers, the passion and love you put into everything. Honestly you are worth your weight in gold. Every worry I had just melted away after speaking to you.

About my bouquet - OMG, it was just so breathtakingly perfect as were all the other florals on the day and the tree! Just what I had in mind and I love that you just got that.

All our love always,

Amy and Mike."

Winter Bouquets and Boutonnières

Amy's the marketing manager for a leading UK bridal dress designer, Suzanne Neville so the dress was always going to be sensational. And we wanted to create a bridal bouquet worthy of it so Amy and I planned a classic hand-tied design in shades of the palest oyster pink and winter white. With softly scented White O'Hara garden roses, Quicksand roses, spray Majolica and white lilac, this bouquet was a joy for all the senses.

The bridesmaids looked chic in pale pink chiffon dresses and marabou capes. Their bouquets were a contemporary design of roses to give a modern twist to the look. Mike's boutonnière was a mix of spray roses from Amy's bouquet with little sprigs of winter flowering broom.

Christmas Ceremony Flowers at Caswell House

Amy and Mike’s deep love for Christmas made a December celebration at Caswell House the ultimate choice for their winter wedding. Nestled in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, Caswell’s historic, honey-stone barns offer an extraordinary setting for couples seeking seasonal luxury, complete with generous indoor space and cozy lounge areas for guests to relax throughout the day.

To welcome guests on arrival, lots of candles in our glass cylinders were arranged on the card table together with a lush floral display and soft fabric draping. Candlelight was key to this aesthetic and we continued the look through to the ceremony room with lots of candles in the ancient hayrack. The windowsills became Christmas scenes with miniature ceramic houses, seasonal seedheads and more fairy lights.

For the ceremony inside the main barn, Amy envisioned a statement Christmas tree to set a romantic, festive tone. As a fellow Christmas devotee, I was thrilled to bring this idea to life. We selected a magnificent fresh spruce tree that filled the historic barn with an unmistakable, rich pine aroma, while hand-selected white and silver ornaments caught the soft, delicate winter light. The evergreen scent coupled with twinkling, reflective details immediately wrapped guests in the warmth of the season.

As their Oxfordshire wedding florist, we anchored the ceremony decor with abundant floral meadows, filled with roses and baby's breath. Placed strategically at the entrance of the aisle, these textural arrangements created a memorable, lush pathway for Amy’s arrival. Versatility as well as beauty is central to our design ethos; these ceremony florals were thoughtfully repurposed following the vows. We seamlessly transitioned the floral meadows to the wedding breakfast room, using them to bookend the top table with natural height and movement, as well as framing a captivating floral nest around the wedding cake table. The result was a cohesive, high-impact botanical thread that carried the magic of their December wedding from the first steps down the aisle to the evening celebrations.

Reception Flowers at Caswell House

To elevate the atmosphere of the wedding breakfast, Amy and Mike chose a classic layout featuring a long, straight top table paired with elegant round guest tables. This arrangement maximized the spacious feel of the historic stone barn while creating an intimate, candlelit setting for their guests.

As their Cotswolds and Oxfordshire wedding florist, we curated a delicate yet high-impact design for the top table. We styled the length of the table with an artful mix of premium seasonal blooms in sleek bud vases, layered with slender taper candles in a sophisticated taupe colour enclosed in glass candle shades and glowing tea light votives for an irresistible evening twinkle. To add depth, visual interest, and tactile contrast, we blended clear glass containers with solid white ceramic bud vases, allowing the warm candlelight to reflect softly off different surfaces.

This curated botanical design extended across the entire reception room. Each round guest table featured a unique cluster of bud vases at varying heights—creating an organic, meadow-like rhythm across the tablescapes—surrounded by abundant, flickering candlelight. The combination of delicate textures, atmospheric lighting, and strategic floral placement seamlessly tied together the festive luxury of their December barn wedding in rural Oxfordshire.
