COLOURFUL WILDFLOWER WEDDING IN THE COTSWOLDS

Sarah and Joe's wedding at Stone Barn in the Cotswolds near Cheltenham was a riot of colourful wild-flowers and inspiring personal touches. The story of their engagement and how they planned their dream day is told brilliantly over on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings - just follow the link to get all the details.

Here are just a few snippets about what this super couple had to say about their day.

"The Vision

As Joe said in his speech, I have an ‘aversion to anything void of colour’ and our wedding was no different. What started as a wish for wildflowers everywhere quickly became a colour explosion that to everyone’s surprise really worked.

We wanted to create a space where everyone felt like they could catch up with friends and have a great time. Whilst still ensuring there were lots of personal touches that represented us as a couple (cocktails named after our pets and personal notes on each place setting helped with this)."

Sarah's bridal bouquet was an ode to spring - inspired by wildflowers in rich bright hues. It was a natural cascade design that whilst on the large size was easy to carry and oozed movement and natural style. It even doubled as a sun-shade!! There were loads of different coloured ranunculus in this design - think peony like ruffles but in springtime. We love them.

"My bouquet was exquisite."

"The Stone Barn offered us a unique space that catered to both the ceremony and reception. Despite being a ‘barn’ its corrugated iron walls and fairy light ceiling set it apart from other places we saw online. It is also renowned for its food and this was important to us, another one of its defining features being a large indoor bbq and open kitchen."

Also, despite being a catered venue, we still had complete freedom with the décor and other aspects, so it still felt like we had all the control without the stress of needing to do everything ourselves. We have received so many compliments from the guests on the venue and the glorious fields that surround it made for ample photo opportunities!"

We went big with the hanging wheel in the main barn for the ceremony with a foliage design with huge pampas grasses in warm oranges and pinks - it looked crazy and suited the vibe totally. For the reception tables, our cute grey wooden boxes were filled with summer flowers and sat on top of hot pink fabric runners sourced by the clients. Paper lanterns continued the colour pop styling into the ceiling.

"The Styling & Decor

I knew I wanted a wedding full of colour as I’ve never been one for mellow vibes. Our florist was over the moon with her brief of ‘anything but white or blush pink’ and totally exceeded our expectations. When two days before the wedding she messaged to say she’d found some giant pink and orange pampas leaves and should she add these to the ceiling wreath, I’d knew we’d found the right supplier."

Wonderful feedback from Sarah and Joe - I really take the time to listen to my clients and delve into what they really love and dislike so I can make the right styling and design choices for their wedding flowers for their Cotswold barn wedding.
