DARK AND DRAMATIC FLORALS AT ELMORE COURT

As the days start to shorten and we reach for woolly jumpers again, I thought I'd share one of my favourite autumn weddings with you all. Charlotte and Dave were married at Elmore Court near Gloucestershire and whilst it wasn’t a Halloween 🎃 👻 wedding, there was lots of dark and moody styling as black is the bride's favourite colour. This wedding is a great example of how unique and personal your wedding can be when you eschew trends and safe choices and follow your heart ♥️ .

The personal flowers were a celebration of deep purples, balcks and touches of reds and dusky pinks. Charlotte's bridal bouquet was a statement design with a natural cascade. It featured luxurious orchids, King Proteas, velvety red roses and textured amaranthus. The bridesmaids wore one shoulder black dresses and I made smaller hand-tied bridesmaids bouquets for them which really popped against the black. Her daughter had a tiny posy to carry too and I crafted a modern floral wrist cuff for the mother of the bride.

The ceremony took place in the Music Room at Elmore Court and I created a large urn display for the marble table and surrounded it with candles for lots of flickering light and ambience

The couple wandered the grounds in the last of the autumn sunlight and photographer James Fear captured some incredible images.

The party was held in the Gillyflower with long tables complete with bud vases and candles. A huge moon gate with a neon "To the Moon and Back' sign made a wonderful photo backdrop for guests and we covered it with abundant florals.

The wedding was featured on UK Wedding Venue finder site Coco Weddings. Click here to read the how story of this stunning wedding. Here's just an extract of Charlotte's wedding planning experience.

"We wanted our day to be both relaxed and fun, but equally elegant and timeless. We were heavily inspired by the season – getting married on the first day of October, cosy autumnal vibes felt most fitting. We wanted the wedding to be authentically ‘us’. Black is my favourite colour, so I knew that I wanted to include as many black aspects as possible to stay true to my everyday style. We chose to have gold and plum accents to really emphasise the dark and moody theme, with lots of twinkling candlelight. Like a big, warm (but glamorous) hug!

The lovely Fi from Corky and Prince was our florist. I have never been very knowledgeable about flowers, so I went to her with just a vision and a colour scheme, and she expertly guided me through the world of seasonable British florals. Who knew that you could find black flowers?!

I knew that I wanted long, banquet style tables, and these were covered with black candles in gold holders and scattered with greenery. These were interspersed with single stems in a variety of different glass holders – we had amber apothecary bottles, clear bud vases and even brown glass beer bottles, which was inspired by a table display we saw at one of Elmore’s open days.
