WORKING WITH ME - STEP FIVE - DRAWINGS AND SOURCING

As a child, I was invariably found with a pencil ✏️ or paintbrush 🖌️ in hand translating make believe worlds onto the page. This love of art carried on into adulthood with many happy holidays spent capturing the landscape in foreign countries.

Today my medium of choice is an iPad and Apple Pencil which I use to render design drawings for clients who want something special for their wedding florals. This step is about showing what’s possible and how it works with the venue, the architectural details and the borrowed landscape.

Here's an example of a sketch of a floral grounded arch design I created after a site visit to Cliveden House in Berkshire. Y & R wanted a stunning backdrop for their intimate wedding ceremony on the terrace at Cliveden, with a semi circle of meadows encasing the guest chairs.

I use design drawings to show clients what's possible for their wedding venue, and it's such a pleasure to turn a sketch into a real floral installation.

Sourcing the perfect vessels for your tablescape is another step that’s less visible to the clients I work with but essential to achieving the right results. Also it means I get to ‘go shopping’ a lot 😉😊

And then there is candles - my candle sample box prompts much ooohhhing and aaaahhing when it comes out. It really helps clients begin to see how everything will come together to create their dream tablescape. For Y & R we choose a pale pink taper candle in a glass candlestick as a subtle pop of colour in amongst this luxurious full length floral runner.

I am unashamedly a detail oriented person yet I also believe in the creative process that allows my imagination to flow through sketches and renders.
