Jen & Yeboah’s Pear Tree Wedding in Wiltshire, England

This wedding was so full of love and personal stories! From the groom's Ghanaian African Kente Cloth bow-tie to the bride's dramatic traditional African dress change for the evening party—there was so much colour and vibrancy woven throughout this amazing early autumn celebration.
As a specialist in fusion wedding flowers, it was an absolute joy to design a scheme that honoured both the quaint charm of the Wiltshire countryside and the rich cultural heritage of the couple.
A Traditional Start in Purton
The couple chose a traditional church service at St Mary's Church in Purton. Many couples planning a Pear Tree wedding don't even realise that this ancient, stone parish church is located just a short walk from the venue. It is tucked away off a quiet lane, surrounded by established trees and woods, offering a peaceful, quintessentially English start to the day.
While guests can easily park at the venue and stroll over to the church, I’d always recommend a car for the bride's transport—particularly if you have splurged on some lush shoes for the day!
The Design Ethos: A Bold Colour Story
The colour palette for Jen and Yeboah was centered around the sensational autumn hero—the Dahlia. In particular, we focused on the showstopping 'Cafe Au Lait' dahlia variety. This flower set the tone for the entire scheme, acting as the bridge between the bridesmaids' dresses and the sophisticated table styling.

When designing summer wedding flowers or early autumn schemes, the Dahlia provides a sculptural depth that few other blooms can match. Its creamy, latte-toned petals worked beautifully for this fusion wedding, providing a neutral but high-impact base that allowed the vibrant pops of colour from the African Kente Cloth to truly sing.

Elegant Bridal Styling at The Pear Tree
Jen chose a mermaid fit-and-flare lace gown for her wedding day. To complement her silhouette, we designed a showstopping bouquet of creamy dahlias, pale pink 'Quicksand' roses, and other seasonal flowers. The result was a gorgeously elegant design, full of subtle hues of vanilla, latte, and blush, gathered together with fragrant eucalyptus and interesting textures.

Yeboah wanted to celebrate his Ghanaian heritage and commissioned bespoke African Kente Cloth bow-ties. To create a cohesive visual link, I asked for some of the spare fabric to wrap the stems of the buttonhole flowers for the groom and his groomsmen. Personalising your wedding with details that mean something significant to the two of you is always a recipe for a memorable day. It transforms a standard buttonhole into a piece of the family story.
The bridesmaids wore off-the-shoulder dresses from We Are Unwritten, and the flowers in their matching bouquets provided the perfect contrast. There is a particular photograph of the girls all together at The Pear Tree with their flowers that perfectly captures the "intentional abundance" we strive for in our designs.

Ceremony Florals: St Mary's Church
Inside, St Mary's is surprisingly spacious. To make the most of the architecture, we placed large floral urns at the front of the aisle to frame Jen and Yeboah as they made their vows. These designs were "all flower power," featuring a mix of textures that felt both wild and refined. After the ceremony, we carefully transported these urns back to the venue to add a splash of colour to the Orangery, ensuring the floral budget worked as hard as possible.

The Reception: The Orangery
The wedding reception was held in the elegant Orangery at The Pear Tree at Purton. We've had the privilege of creating many memorable days at The Pear Tree since it was re-opened as a dedicated wedding venue in 2019 - click here to see more Pear Tree wedding florals by Corky and Prince. . With its floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the space feels immersive and light. The couple chose a traditional long top table, which we adorned with a rich foliage garland woven with pale pink and peach roses, and gently scented flowers.

The bride made a moving speech, and the groom shed happy tears in what was a very emotional and authentic celebration. Guest table flowers were kept understated to allow for easy conversation, featuring low-footed metallic bowls filled with warm peach and neutral autumn blooms, whilst the tall table centrepieces on elevated gold stands added drama across the room.

In the Couple's Words
The greatest reward for any florist is hearing how the designs lived on after the last dance. Jen and Yeboah sent us this lovely note:
"Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you so much for our gorgeous flowers! We absolutely adored them and had so many compliments throughout the day! They looked AMAZING and the colours were incredible. They’re all safely installed across our friends and families houses and looking fab!"
Reflections on a Fusion Wedding
What made this day so special was the balance. We managed to create a luxury wedding feel that remained deeply personal. By mixing the traditional English church setting with the vibrant textures of the Kente cloth and the maximalist "reflexed" roses, we achieved a look that was entirely unique to Jen and Yeboah.
