Ellie and Sam - Legends!

When Ellie and Sam first contacted me, they were a giddy cocktail of excitement and nerves. As a couple working within the fast-paced creative and media industries, they were constantly exposed to high-end visual influences and this shaped their decision-making process . While they were certain about what they didn't want—anything remotely "traditional" or "wedding-ey"—they were less sure about how to define their own luxury wedding style. This is not unusual - for every couple that have a fully developed vision (and Pinterest board to match), there will be another couple that have just the haziest of ideas about their dream day. My tried and tested wedding flowers planning approach works wonderfully which every camp you find yourself in!

The Venue: Kin House, Wiltshire

After an exhaustive search for the perfect escape outside of London, they discovered Kin House in Wiltshire, England. Like so many of my clients, they fell in love the moment they stepped into the interior-design-led manor house with dedicated ceremony spaces and gorgeous accommodation for up to 20 guests. The house and gardens are the epitome of modern luxury, but for Ellie and Sam, the challenge was clear: how to create a wedding floral style that felt authentic to them as a couple while honouring such a sublime, sophisticated backdrop.

The Design Journey: From Palm Springs to the English Garden

We began our creative process by blending two distinct concepts: 'The English Garden Re-imagined' and 'Palm Springs Retro' that I'd developed following our first Discovery call on Zoom. As I often remind my clients, the first Look Book is the start, not the end of the floral design journey with me (click here for more on how I work with you).

"I can say is WOW - we have never felt more listened to!

The way you have included so much thought about the little elements we have discussed."

Ellie & Sam - Kin House

As the couple’s choices for stationery, tablescapes, and fashion were refined, a unique floral concept emerged—a fusion of these two worlds with a signature sprinkle of Corky and Prince contemporary style. The result was a bold colour story featuring a delicious palette of light and warm pinks, juicy peaches, and zesty accents of lemon and coral.

The Fashion: A Contemporary Bride in Halfpenny London

Ellie was the ultimate contemporary bride, opting for a stunning gown by leading UK designer Kate Halfpenny. To complement the dress, I created one of my signature maximalist bridal bouquets with large 'Secret Garden' punk roses. These showstopping designs feature supersized roses with their petals meticulously hand-rolled—a technique known as 'reflexing'—to create a sculptural, high-fashion look.

Her bridesmaids looked incredible in asymmetrical, off-the-shoulder gowns trimmed with marabou feathers in a smoky pink.

In a clever move to maximise the wedding flowers budget, we opted for the girls to carry a single, striking large pink rose, re-directing funds toward high-impact venue styling.

Sam chose a classic tux and we paired it with 'Pink Majolica' rose buds for his boutonnière - a mini version of Ellie's stacked rose bouquet.

Innovative Installations: Draping and Flowers

The ceremony in the Garden House at Kin saw the couple framed by modern plinth designs that were pure "flower power." These versatile arrangements later transitioned to the Kilvert Hall to frame the dessert table and speech area.

The real design triumph, however, was the ceiling. While a full-room drape wasn't within the budget, we wanted to celebrate the hall's height. I proposed a bespoke solution: a layered and draped installation across the horizontal beams using warm, light chiffon.

Intertwined with this draping and flowers was a new take on hanging installations. We created long, slender floral chandelier featuring foxtail and oriental lilies, gladioli and amaranthus. The individually wired petals that moved like a giant floral mobile. For an unexpected twist of texture and tone, I even incorporated burgundy radicchio lettuce leaves—the perfect "un-wedding" detail.

Tablescapes: Fruit, Florals, and Fun

To maintain the immersive and authentic vibe, the guest tables were styled in three distinct ways:

  1. Architectural Bud Vases: Unusual ceramic shapes for a clean, modern look.

  2. Still Life Accents: Pin bowls interspersed with flat peaches and lychee fruits.

  3. The Head Table: A series of lush floral and fruit "clouds" that sat low and textured.

Ellie and Sam’s Kin House wedding proved that when you lean into a bold colour story and think outside the traditional floral box, the result is a celebration that is as unique as the couple themselves.
